PIGGOT, PICKETT

Piggot Pickett Family from James City, Virginia, to Wilkes County, Georgia, to Barbour County, Alabama

Our Piggot family were almost certainly Huguenots. Our earliest documentation is in James City, Virginia, in 1797, when the will of Susannah Camp names Susannah Piggot, the wife of Abner Piggot. Their son, George P. H. Piggot is born there in 1800. Then they follow the land to Wilkes County, Georgia, and George P. H. decides to go to the wild west of Texas, while his daughter Mary Ann marries Perry Lafayette Thomas to Barbour County, Alabama. Tragically, after attending a funeral, Mary Ann is killed after jumping from a runaway buggy.
